First destination

Las Palmas de Gran Canaria

The thriving capital of the picturesque Gran Canaria island, known as Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, stands out as the most populous city in the archipelago and the ninth-largest in Spain. With its strategic location, it serves as a prominent port terminal and a sought-after destination for Spanish and international travelers alike. The city’s charm lies in its cobbled streets and splendid historic buildings that overlook vast golden beaches, offering visitors a captivating journey back in time.

What makes Gran Canaria truly unique is its cosmopolitan and safe environment, blessed with a fantastic climate ranging between 15 and 24 degrees all year round. This ecological wealth and ideal weather make it a paradise for water sports enthusiasts, but the island has much more to offer beyond surf and sand. The rise of innovative sectors adds to its allure, making it a destination full of possibilities, especially for those considering an Erasmus+ internship. The island boasts a very young international atmosphere, making it a vibrant and exciting place to explore.

Language

Our mother tongue is Spanish, but we are also used to living with people from different parts of the world and, as a general rule, everyone speaks a bit of English.

Currency

Being part of the Spanish territory, our currency is the Euro. The living costs are similar to the rest of Spain and Portugal, and lower than other European countries such as France, Finland, etc.

Time Zone

Due to our geographical location, Gran Canaria has adopted the Greenwich Mean Time or GMT (UTC±00:00)

History

The Canary Islands are a group of volcanic islands that emerged from the sea 16 million years ago. It is thought that their first inhabitants, mainly known as aboriginals, came from the coast of North Africa a long time ago. Around the 15th century, the islands were conquered by the Spaniards.
